Sparking a Lifelong Engagement with Music

Impact and Feedback

Future Sound: Measuring Our Impact

We have evaluated the impact of Future Sound through a range of surveys and feedback questionnaires with young people and teachers, and workshop leader observations. At the end of each Skills, Play and Experience workshop, we asked young people to assess their improvements across a range of music and soft skills. They reported the following:

%

improved at least one musical skill

%

feel more confident expressing themselves in music

%

enjoyed working as a team with their classmates

%

would like to do more music activity in school

These outcomes reflect more than musical development. They point to increased confidence, collaboration, self-belief, and a desire to continue engaging with creativity.

What our Participants Say

Hearing Directly From Our Participants

The voices of the young people we work with are at the heart of everything we do. Hear how our programmes have helped them build confidence, develop their musical skills and imagine new possibilities in the music industry.

Future Sound 2025

A year of Music, Creativity and Opportunity

In 2025, the Future Sound programme engaged 2,819 young people aged 11-16 years across 12 secondary schools, and delivered 12 live performance assemblies and 68 workshops.

To give a sense of what it’s like in the classroom, the quote below is an example from our Play workshop at Co-op Academy Belle Vue. One group produced a song about difference and being inspired by the qualities of others, such as bravery. They performed it for the rest of the class and received great feedback!

These moments — young people standing up, sharing their words, and being celebrated by their peers — are at the heart of what we do.

I wish I was brave like you,
Shine like a star like you do,
Cause I know that I’m able and I know that I can,
Gonna be my own hero like I know that I am,
I can be so brave too.
